About

A portrait photo of Louise in a black T-shirt, smiling at the camera and holding a turquoise pilates ball

Hi, I’m Louise and I run Connections Body Therapy.
I’m a soft tissue therapist and Pilates instructor who is passionate about helping people reconnect with their body to feel more joy and freedom in their daily lives.
I've worked with competitive dancers, office workers, athletes, chronic pain sufferers and anyone who just wants to feel good in their body! I use movement and massage to help my clients reduce pain and stiffness, build strength and confidence, improve posture, release stress, recover from injury, increase body awareness and improve overall wellbeing.

My background

Being physically active has always been important in my life through social and competitive dancing, swimming teaching and outdoor recreation. However, it wasn’t until my 30s that I started to understand how much of a positive impact massage and movement has on both mind and body.Wanting to share the benefits with others, I qualified as a Soft Tissue Therapist with the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage/Soft Tissue Therapists in 2016, training in their holistic, person-centred approach to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of minor and chronic neuromusculoskeletal pain, injury and dysfunction. My aim is to improve your health and wellbeing, treating the problem as well as the pain! After stopping competitive dancing and feeling the negative effects of a more sedentary lifestyle on my mind and body, I took up Pilates to get moving and help rehabilitate my own injuries. Experiencing first hand all the physical and mental benefits Pilates brings and wanting to share it with people from all walks of life, I qualified as a Pilates Matwork Instructor in 2024 with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) whose training complements my soft tissue therapy work.Check out our Services page and get in touch if you would like to see how we could work together!

We offer modifications and progressions to suit all levels!
All you need to bring is a Pilates/Yoga mat and yourself!

Once you've registered your interest we'll be in touch to gather information about your medical history and suitability to join the classes*. We'll then share payment information to reserve your place and we'll see you in the first session!* We share an induction video with all new clients joining our classes which takes you through the basics of Pilates. Pilates Foundations Course Information

Dates

6 x Monday evenings
23 June - 28 July 2025

Times

Sessions start at 18:45 / 19:45 and last 50mins.
Please arrive 5mins before the start, especially for the first session, to allow time to find the studio and set up your mat! :)

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely in various positions is best!
Please also have some socks to wear.
Most people choose to wear leggings, shorts or jogging bottoms with a fitness top or T-shirt. Whilst your clothing doesn’t need to be tight-fitting, if it’s possible to avoid wearing clothes that are too baggy, this helps me to more easily check your body’s alignment whilst doing the exercises.
I recommend wearing an extra layer just to keep you warm during warm ups/cool downs.
Jeans or clothing with belts/buttons/clasps etc. that might dig in are not recommended.

What do I need to bring?

Your own Pilates/Yoga mat
Water
Small towel if you wish
Any other Pilates props we use will be provided for you in the class!
